Two Weeks, Two World Premières with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra

November 16, 2009 – December with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra begins with performances of two World Première works, Bramwell Tovey’s Songs of the Paradise Saloon (December 2 and 3) and Philip Glass’s Violin Concerto No.2 "The American Four Seasons" (December 9 and 11 at Roy Thomson Hall, Toronto; December 10 at National Arts Centre, Ottawa). Each work is a TSO commission, among five being performed throughout the TSO’s 2009.2010 season, representing a significant investment in commissions of new work for the Orchestra.

For Immediate Release, Toronto, ON, November 3, 2009 – The great Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, one of the world’s oldest classical ensembles, makes its Canadian debut at Roy Thomson Hall on Monday, November 16 at 8 pm under the leadership of its dynamic new Music Director, Maestro Long Yu.
